Quebec Secondary School Diploma

Requirements

  • English Eligibility to work with an English school board
  • Working at an age-appropriate level in English and French Second Language
  • Free online classes for secondary 4 and 5 SN Math and Science courses.
  • Students aged 13 + on September 30th are allowed to take secondary 4 or 5 credits if academically prepared. Homeschooled students often begin graduation courses while still in secondary 3, taking 3 years to complete thier diploma and gain extra credits if the school board is in agreement.

Quebec Online School offers classes in three subjects – English, History and Citizenship (exam prep included) and ERC. Classes are held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 am from mid-September to June. Students are required to attend both courses.

The fee includes the preparation of learning plan, midterm report and evaluation for the DEM, as well as corresponence and negiotations with the school boards for credits for secondary 4 and 5. Students can take secondary 4 credits when they are in secondary 3 classes, if they are ready.

Lighthouse Christian Academy – Manitoba

Lighthouse Christian Academy has had a long-standing positive relationship with the English CEGEPS in Quebec and students with a diploma from this distance-learning school have been accepted at Dawson, Vanier and John Abott Cegeps. Students of all faiths are accepted and can transfer credits from Quebec Online School. Students must complete a minimum of one course with LCA to receive a diploma. Many students will take a course such as Business Math.

For students interested in this route, Quebec Online School recommends enrolling with Acellus Academy, along with a supplement from QOS to complete Quebec homeschool requirements. The annual fee from secondary 3 – 5 includes a DEM-approved learning plan, midterm report and year-end evaluation as well as the supplemental assigments required to meet Quebec expectations. There is also a possibility of including additional courses not listed with Acellus.
